Gold Eagle date ques.
 
I just picked up two 1/10 gold eagles. One is 1997 and the other is 1990. The 1990 date is actually written in Roman numerals (MCMXC). When did the mint stop writting the date like that?

Gold Eagles minted 1986-1991 are dated with Roman numerals. In 1992, the U.S. Mint switched to Arabic numbers for dating Gold Eagles.
